Schwerpunkt dieses Artikels sind die Auswirkungen des Ersten Weltkrieges auf die Versorgung mit Arzneimitteln.Inflation und Preiskontrollen, aber auch Fälschungen und Schiebereien stellten eine latente Gefahr dar.

The First World War, the Revolution 1918 in Germany and the inflation period was a desaster for many people from the group of small businesses. The pharmacy and the pharmacist represent a typical group, although their role in the supply of the drugs was as well an important factor.

A detailed study shows the economical background with cost for goods and salaries on one side and the government controlled retail prices on the other side. The effects of war and strict price control lead to grave problems, especially as the speed of price adoption was not as quick as the inflation.

The consequences out of this development are shown in detail - poilitical pressure, agressive behaviour but mainly depression at the end, although despite heavy monetary losses the pharmacists still owned his shop after the inflation.

Another important item is the supply of drugs, which suffered from war, price controls and the consquences of the contract of Versailles.
