Sunday, 8th October 2000 - MrClick's TilEd
0.33 is out including the most requested features
On public demand a new TilEd is ready for download. One
often requested feature was the saving and loading of color sets and it
has finally found its way into the program. Additionally the saving and
loading of whole libraries of bookmarks is now possible and also the loading
of Tile Layer v0.50b color palettes. I hope that I got all that loading
and saving stuff right but it always worked. Bug reports go as usual to
the messages
board.
Get'em till they're hot. MrClick's
TilEd 0.33 and Pentium Pro optimized.
I got no feedback regarding HiColEd so I guess I put
the project on ice. The Final Burn Frontend is also dead due to the emulator
having his own ROM selection tool now.
Friday, 6th October 2000 - MrClick's TilEd 0.32 bug fix
release
Well, not much new to report from the TilEd front. I just
fixed up the NES tile mode and that's nearly all of it. If I am getting
enough hits I might start working on some tools including palette and bookmark
saving soon. Yet for now I can only offer MrClick's
TilEd 0.32
and the Pentium Pro
optimized version.
Tuesday, 26th Seprember 2000 - New tool
released: MrClick's HiColEd 0.1
A few days ago a program was released by Jabo (look at:
Links
section) which extracted graphics from the Killer Instinct Arcade hard
drive image into BMP files. I used it for a while and then decided to write
my own Win 32 program for 15 bpb graphic extraction. After two days of
work, I think that it is ready to be released to the public. Presenting
MrClick's HiColEd (High Color Graphic Editor). This program can be used
to view any 15 bpb bitmap in any kind of file. I guess it could read textures
and sprites of normal PC or PSX games but it is originally designed and
tested with Killer Instinct. HiColEd also features a bookmark system and
a sample bookmark file with some Killer Instinct backgrounds is also included
in the zip archive. Still HiColEd is in a very early and probably buggy
stage so please don't spam my mailbox with complains (constructive criticism
is always welcomed). A BMP export and import function might be added later
to make it a real editor.
Enough with the words. Get ready for MrClick's
HiColEd 0.1 (batteries not included).
By the way: I was informed about a bug in TilEd's NES
tile mode. That means a new version of TilEd is on the way.

2000 - Reuploaded Final Burn Frontend with correct executable
Don't know how that happened but I packed a wrong executable
into the Final Burn Frontend zip. I uploaded a new archive with the correced
executable for Final Burn 0.700. Thanks to Tim from Arcade@Home for reporting
the error. Hope I didn't caused to much trouble with that fault of mine.
Here is the new Final Burn Frontend
Sunday, 3rd September 2000 - New Final Burn
(formerly known as After Burner Emu) frontend
A new name and a new game. After Burner Emu is now known
as Final Burn and supports Afterburner 1. With the new release of this
fine arcade emulator a new version of MrClick’s After Burner Emu Frontend
now know as MrClick’s Final Burn Frontend is ready for download: MrClick's
Final Burn Frontend
I also added the Finalburn
homepage to my Links section.
Friday, 1st September 2000 - Not TilEd related
release
Just got bored today and wrote a frontend for the After
Burner Emu. It supports all four ROMs supported by the emulator.
You can download it here: MrClick's
After Burner II Emu Frontend
Friday, 18th August 2000 - Status report
And 1000 visitors are in. First of all I want to thank
all you people out there supporting me by visiting my site.
A good reason for me to tell you how my work is doing.
TilEx is now in reach and a better and faster TilEd is also in planning.
In the last days I figured out how to make DLLs with Borland's free C++
Compiler and import them into Visual Basic. That's means that I can now
write much faster code and that gives me totally new possibilities for
my current and future projects. When I learned how to execute Win 32 API
functions (mainly reading, writing and GDI) I will continue programming
beginning with a new TilEd core and then make a completely new start with
TilEx (Visual Basic is just to slow).
Sunday, 13th August 2000 (last day of summer
vacation ... sigh) - New release: TilEd 0.31
Here is the new version of TilEd. Beside some changes
in the program core I also added a lot of new tools and abilities. Most
of the changes were requested and I still encourage all TilEd users to
send me reviews and ideas regarding TilEd.
Here are the downloads for TilEd
0.31,
TilEd 0.31 Pentium Pro (tm)
optimized and for all user who get a 'missing file' error regarding
COMDLG32.OCX get it here.
Now here is a list of my future plans for TilEd:
-I have decided to keep the current design of TilEd.
I will not split it up into several windows or change the icons.
-New tile modes will be added soon (Genesis,CPS1-2 ...).
I could use a little help on that one.
-Saving and loading of color sets and bookmark lists
should be available in the next release.
-The promised 'Tile Address' tool is on the way.
-TilEd will never support any tile size bigger or smaller
8 by 8 pixels or more than 16 colors but...
... I am already working on a new tool called 'TilEx'
(= Tile Export). This tool should allow users to write there own tile modes.
TilEx will not include an editor like TilEd but only a tool to import and
export tiles to BMP files to be editied with a different program. Tile
size and up to 8 bitplains (256 colors) can be freely configured. Right
at this moment the core is finished and reading Gameboy, Neo Geo Pocket
and NES tiles is already possible but it is very slow. Due to the lack
of speed I am not sure if a public release will ever be worth the effort.
Wednesday, 19th July 2000 - Status report
Some of you might have noticed that my counter's
server was 'kind of slow'. So I decided to change my counter and you might
have noticed the result at the top of this page. More than 400 unique hits
in 2 days show me that I am not programming TilEd for nothing.
What I am doing at the moment is checking what I could
possibly add or change. Due to some requests I will add:
- A main menu. I will not delete any buttons. Just add
a menu where you can access every button's function by a menu item
- A tool to view more infos about the opened file (is
it writeprotected, size, name and path, maybe checksum if somebody tells
me how it is calculated)
- A tool to show the selected tile's address in hex,
bool , oct and dec
I also recieved some innovative ideas about the design.
What do you think about splitting the whole program into several windows
(like the Visual Basic or Delphi surface).
Just E-mail me (or even better use the message board)
and tell me (and the other visitors) what new features or changes you want
to see in TilEd 0.31.
Tuesday, 18th July 2000 - New release: TilEd
0.3
With this new release I also announce a
new name for my program.
's
Gameboy Tile Editor is now called
's
TilEd. This is because in this new release the Tile Editor is also able
to edit graphics in NES, Super Nintendo, Neo Geo Pocket ROMs and is also
able to copy tiles from one kind of ROM to another. New in this version
are two tools to handle up to 256 bookmarks and 256 color sets.
