Have you known that according to the buildings in vol.5 Laures eventually was a bavarian prince? The arc which is seen when Laures and his soldiers come home is the Siegestor in Munich.
Hilda's village lies in the south-west of Germany. The place looks like real places near Trier, besides you can see a nameplate of a tavern 'Zum Römer' in vol.5 (when Rod comes back from Berk castle and meets Asbal). 'Zum Römer' is German and means 'At the Roman's Place'. I've seen a TV report about some places near Trier; there is a castle called 'Schloss Berg' (Berg castle) which looks a bit similar to the one in Seimaden. In German 'Berk' and 'Berg' sounds equal.
It's rumored Rod and Hilda were originally planned to be the main characters of the story (in Azel Seimaden Laures doesn't seem to be that important like he is later; the focus lies on Rod and Hilda), then Higuri san started to like Laures more and more during her work on the story. So Laures became the main character ^_^
As I know now this was just a rumor. Laures was the main character from the beginning. For more info read the Higuri You Questionnaire
