Installation Mad Harry's MIDI Enhancer

Introduction Delivery Using the MIDI Enhancer

1.5 Installation

The program does not run reasonably from CD-ROM or other write-protected media! Copy all files to a writable destination directory.

The program saves its settings on singletasking TOS in its installation directory, otherwise in the user's home directory.

Connect the MIDI output of your keyboard to the MIDI input of your computer. Split your keyboard. It must be able to send on 2 different channels. Or use any 2 MIDI instruments and a MIDI mixer. E.g., if you send on channels 2 and 8, select channel 2 as control channel and channel 8 as input channel, or vice versa, in the controller window. Do not enable the control channel as input channel.

Connect the MIDI output of your computer to the MIDI input of your synthesizer.

If your synthesizer is GS compatible, it will understand scale tune messages. You are ready to take off now!

If you want to use pitch bend mode:

Your synthesizer must work in the poly mode, receiving on all output channels enabled in the MIDI Enhancer. Select the same sound on each MIDI channel. The pitch bend range on each channel must be -100..100 cent. This means that, if you would play a D, you could reach a C# or a D# with the pitch bend wheel. If your synthesizer understands pitch bend sensitivity messages, it will be adjusted to the right sensitivity automatically by the MIDI Enhancer. If your synthesizer always reserves channel 10 for the drums, you must disable output channel 10 (red arrow 9 in the controller window).

A typical pitch bend mode setup with a 15 voice piano is shown here:
