SeyJoy - Who we are!

The Seychelles are a group of more than 100 Islands of total 444 km². We are situated in the western Indian Ocean between 4° and 10° South and 46°and 56° East. The total coverage of the Sea Area is 1.000.000 km². The centre is about 1.600 km east of the African Continent.

The largest Island with the capital and harbour town is Mahé (141,1 km²). It is 27 km long and between 5 and 8 km width. The major inhabited islands are also Praslin (40,9 km²), Silhouette (18,0 km²) and La Digue (9,7 km²). There are also the rare inhabited islands of the Amirantes, Cosmoledo, Providence, Alphonse, Aldabra and Farquar.

SeyJoy Workshop

Basic Aim

Games bringing people together. Games like Domino or Chess are a basis for communication as well as for training, education or simply entertainment. We manufacture, sell and play Toys and Games in the Seychelles mostly made of natural raw material of the Seychelles.

The Games have a relation to the Seychelles either a traditional or dealing with the sea, turtles or nature. Traditional games like Domino as well as Island Hopping are offered.

Employment

Here on La Digue are a lot unemployed and untrained people. SeyJoy is employing and training several people for different tasks. One percent of each purchase is given to a found to support the education of young Digwaz.

During their school time the youngsters come in the afternoon to meet others and play the Games. By doing this they might become interested in manufacturing and selling the Games. They can learn in a playing way to create something to live from. After they finished the school education - between 16 and 21 - they can join the manufacturing.

Not complicated parts are assembled at home and sold as a fixed value per item to SeyJoy. The idea is that the people produce this things on a licence basis. Whole Games or only parts of it can be build by the “subcontractor“. They can do it at home or in our workshop with machines for special work.

The ready made product we buy for a fixed price from the worker - depending on the effort. With this procedure the people are able to control themselves on the quantity of work.

Local Natural Resources

There are a lot of local natural resources which are mainly used for the Games such as wood, sticks, fruits, shells, stones, leaves or sand. WE DO NOT USE PROTECTED OR LIVING SHELLS. We take only the dead shells or corals from the beach. This affects the environment in no way. The Seychelles Government always has an eye on the environment to keep it and they never would agree on a production.

Social Aspect

The Tourists as well as the local people are invited to come and play the samples at the workshop. It is an international meeting point for children as well as for adults.
