I'm a Dutch hobby woodturner, started with this wonderful hobby after my retirement in 2001.

I began with reading books about woodturning, watched woodturning video's, and bought a set of woodturning tools.

A lot of practice was needed to get used to the tools, and to gave myself enough confidence, before trying to turn something else.

Another hobby is making as much as possible my own tools and devices.

Was from my profession mechanical engineer, probably the reason that I like to create my own tools.

I love it to work with wood as well as with metal, pure handwork is my goal.

I'm working most of the time with inland woodspieces, like birch, maple, oak, ash, poplar and beech, and so on.

Try a maximize diversity of workspieces to get.
