Welcome to my very first homepage!
(last update May 3rd, 2007, click here to check what's new)
It's all about cars, mostly unusual cars. It's about car brochures, my car brochure collection, International car shows, collecting car brochures in general.   It's not about the usual Golfs and Corollas you can find at every corner. And not about the usual high-price dreamcars. But you will see some conversions by international coachbuilders: a lot of limousines and funeraI cars can be seen here. Many other cars which you might haven't seen yet, too. Oh, and it even is a bit about me...
Well, maybe I should introduce myself  before I go on:
My name is Alexander Beyer, and I live in Pinneberg. That's in Germany, not far from Hamburg. I am a 1966 model (i.e. born in July 1965), and cars have always played an important role in my life, since I got my very first Matchbox toys.
Yes, that's me in the picture. Taken while I had a testdrive in a PT Cruiser. My current car is a 2002 Opel Omega. Pictures of all my previous cars can also be seen at the left. Before the Omega I had a 1993 Omega (for 11 1/2 years!), a 1991 Ford Fiesta (nicknamed Fiestarossa...), a 1982 Ford Taunus Ghia V6 (my little ersatz-Jaguar, lost in an ice accident on an East German Autobahn, somewhere between Berlin and Hamburg), a 1980 Opel Ascona, a 1972 Opel Kadett (in American car ads it would be described as "runs great, needs some paint...") and a 1973 VW Beetle. Right, my first car was a Beetle, like millions of Germans' before. It was a VERY basic 1200 model. It used more oil than petrol, had a one-speed wiper, a stylish clock (for a little bit of Maserati flair...) and a digital heater: "sauna" or "off". Did I like it? Not really...
I collect car sales brochures from all over the world, and I now have more than 69,000 of these. That is not the biggest collection in the world, but still quite resonable. I got my very first car brochure in 1973, but didn't start collecting before 1977, at the age of 11 1/2. First I rode to local car dealerships on my bicycle, then I started writing to German car makers and importers. And in 1981 I found out that I am not the only one who collects car brochures! I wrote my first letters to car makers worldwide, and after the first interesting brochures from Japan and the US arrived, I was finally hooked! I got in contact with other collectors, first in Germany, later worldwide.  Of course I visit many car shows, such as the IAA in Frankfurt and the Mondial in Paris. And the brochures just keep coming!
I am especially after brochures on unusual cars. Some of these will be shown on the next pages. Other things I would like to show you are some of my own pictures of interesting cars. And finally I will give you a couple of interesting links. To other enthusiasts, lesser known car companies and more.
Well. I hope that those of you who collect car brochures will see something new on my page. And those who simply like cars might find my little site interesting, too. Just click on any of the "buttons" above to go on.
I constantly extend this little site, so come along again!
