Covertext (taken from the US DVD) Steve James and David Bradley journey to the remote Caribbean island of Triana expecting to compete in a prestigious martial arts tournament in this thrill-packed third installment of the American Ninja series. Instead, they find themselves in a contest for their very lives when the diabolically evil “Cobra” (Marjoe Gortner) unleashes a terrifying new biological weapon.

My Thoughts
Sadly Michael Dudikoff is conspicuous by his absence in AMERICAN NINJA 3 – BLOOD HUNT. David Bradley takes over his role and, along with Steve James, clobbers himself through hordes of Ninjas. It’s pretty different from the first two movies, but all but better I have to say. Still, it’s quite entertaining for fans of cheap no-brain action flicks, although – when I carefully think about it – I don’t remember a whole lot of what’s going on in the film (after less than a week). So I think it can’t be called memorable! Like in part two there’s a cool sequence where Steve James throws away his (fully loaded) machine gun and fights the Ninjas with his huge knife (I’m not sure about the subtext here). Makes definitely no sense whatsoever, but is fun to watch. The ‘new’ American Ninja David Bradley also returned for AMERICAN NINJA 4: THE ANNIHILATION (1991; and guess who’s at his side? Yep, it’s the original American Ninja Michael Dudikoff) and AMERICAN NINJA 5 (1993). He also can be seen in CYBORG COP I and II (1993/1994) and in the immensely gory AMERICAN SAMURAI (1993).
