How do you ease the pain of a bruise besides ice packs, heat, and tylenol? Just wanna know cuz I got this gross bruise today and didn't realize till later and it hurts now!

meliseb replied: "try soaking in a bath with epsom salt, that useually does the trick."

Robert B replied: "Read and try this I use this process after smacking my fingers with a hammer at work. If you are experienced it's a fast fix."

Going on day2 of my vasectomy, how much bruising & swelling is normal? I have fairly strong bruising and a small swelling behing the puncture point. No real pain just dullness and taking tylenol. My pamphlet says there should be no swelling behind the puncture point so now I am a bit freaked. It has been just over a day. I figure if anything was very wrong i'd have some major pain but hardly any pain at all right now. My doc is away for 3 days so not sure if I should see anyone or just assume bruising and slight swelling is normal for some people.

pratikh replied: "Dude, you had a vasectomy. Dude."

rellenk replied: "My hubby had a vesectomy, he had some swelling, its only natural when you've just had an incision, my hubby was back at work as a truck driver after 3 days. If your at all worried you must see someone though, even if its just to put your mind at rest x"

anonymous replied: "Bruising and swelling depends on the man. But in order to reduce this, you need to keep your scrotum on ice- frozen peas work quite well. Also, are you wearing a scrotal supporter? It is important to keep the testicles well-supported, especially when you are walking around."

snuppster replied: "if u have this much pain, perhaps they cut the wrong bit. do u still have testicles"

p_valdivez replied: "Ice packs and patients you`ll be OK ."

greatfollower replied: "I dont know"

andreahud replied: "My husband had his vasectomy about 9.5wks ago. He experienced both the bruising and the swelling and all was fine. In fact, they told him to expect that and it was in the paperwork. I didn't read this site, but it's all about vasectomy, maybe it will ease your mind. ="

Big Bad Wolf replied: "Take a dose of ARNICA MONTANA in 200 its homeopathic it wont just bring down the swelling it would make your body heal lots faster and you wont feel any discomfiture whatsoever. One dose is three drops in a sip of warm water or two tablets if you get it in tablet form. Take a dose every 30 minutes until you feel the medicine has started to make you feel better that would be in no more then two or three doses after that keep on taking it once a day till you are 100% well . And don't be surprised at how fast and how well it makes you feel ! Thats how it works ! And no side effects whatsoever !"

brandissil replied: "you shouldn't feel much after a week"

about a year ago i o'd and took 17 tylenol pm, is it possible i'll have liver damage? i o'd. my doctor said tylenol pm works at a slow pace, and they wasn't anything they could do about it now, but is it possible ill have liver damage? i have really bad insomnia, i have frequent pains in my abdomnial daily, and i get random bruises. am i overreacting? i remember puking up different colors, red, orange, green, and yellow. that was acids i believe.

craig p replied: "No. You may have had some liver damage at that time, but your liver has an amazing capacity to repair itself, and by now, there should be no traces of injury."

Az R replied: "17 Tylenol PM is about 8.5g of raw tylenol, at this dosage, it is very possible to have at least temporary liver damage. While they cannot purge the drug from your system, there are supportive measures to lessen the damage. At this dose you may not permanently damage your liver, it depends on your body weight and internal chemistry. You probably haven't killed the organ entirely, but you may have injured it enough to reduce its function. The liver can regenerate, but it takes many months for it to do so. The red and orange vomit indicate blood present(usually). This can be serious, as it would mean bleeding in your GI tract. Edit, misread the time frame. Tylenol overdose is usually a suicide attempt, unexplained pain and insomnia are symptoms of psychiatric distress, you should get yourself evaluated in that respect as soon as possible."

Andrew G replied: "It is possible to have caused liver damage, tylenol is liver toxic, but a year later it is unlikely to be the cause for your abdominal pain- unless you still take it repeatedly and drink alcohol. The liver is a remarkable organ with its power of regeneration. If you are worried about your liver, get some milk thistle/silymarin tablets. Its really good for your liver and can reduce liver inflammation (which if left untreated can lead to more serious conditions such as cirrhosis etc). If you do drink, give it up for a while so your liver can heal."

happy replied: "As long as you are not still taking it like this you should be fine. Does your doctor know about the O.D. If not you should really discuss it with him. He will be able to help you. As far as the pain now, it is unlikly it is related but I would have that evaluated. Anytime your body is experiencing odd pains you have it checked out expecially if you have a prevous history. Get help please!"

Just took 7 tylenol 3? I just finished off my tylenol 3 script from having bruising and bleeding in my growth plate in my leg from a skating injury. I am at school and am doing nothing all day so i deciding to make things a little more interesting. Is this an overdose? I took them at 7:55 and it is currently 8:25 am. I weigh 135 lbs if that helps at all. What should I be expecting?

LhopitalsBack! replied: "A long and lonely life."

Kenny S replied: "well that wasn't very smart was it? you need some better hobbies for boredom."

Nurse Susan replied: "If serious, go to ER. If not, you would sleep a lot; AND get incredibly constipated."

How do I lessen the pain in my bruise? I've had this big bad bruise on my leg for about a week now and although its changing color to show it's healing(sis is a med student), it still is really painful. I can't really walk on it, is there a way to numb the pain? Tylenol and Ice don't work.

isamcculloch replied: "Ice would be my suggestion. You have to leave it on long enough for it to get numb. It will be cold, then it will burn, then it will get numb. You have to stick it out for like 15 minutes at least. Just dont do a whole bunch of ice packs in a row, or you could damage the soft tissue."

Bugs (koolax11) replied: "don't walk on it and my mom said get a x-ray."

reason to give tylenol?? my 3 year old daughter fell on the pavement and hit her knee pretty hard. She skinned it badly, and I know their is gonna be some good bruising. She keeps crying that her knee hurts. Would Tylenol make her feel better? Or is it completely pointless? Thanks

hotrod5678 replied: "it is a pain reliver but yes pointless put some ice on and give it a kiss"

hamsterbabies replied: "I think it'd be pointless. Keep some ice on the bruise. Have her suck on some popsicles until she feels better and cover it up with a band -aid. I know a band-aid won't help it heal faster, but it will help in keeping the scrape from bumping up against something."

Katherine M replied: "yeah dont worry about it put a band aid on it"

MaLlOrY r replied: "I would give her the tylenol if she says it hurts then it will make her feel better."

jcox replied: "Tylenol would make her feel better. What might work faster is the Neosporin with pain reliever in it... called Neosporin Plus. This will help relieve some of the pain fast as tylenol will take a little while."

Plane replied: "Tylenol only bears the pain of dieseases. Go to a doctor for an Xray to check if she broke any bones."

Mumma~Cassie replied: "Sure give it to her it can't hurt. It will be very sore for her for a few days, just like when you or I fall and it hurts. Children don't have a way of coping with pain at 3 so it is almost like the end of the world to them when they hurt themselves. We over the years have learn't to deal with pain and can handle falling and it generally only hurts for a few mins after we fall. Also just give her an ice-pack for it, it might also be a great way for her to help deal with pain as ice can help bring the swelling down and help stop the bruising being as bad."

I have a really bad bruise on my arm and my back is there any way to make them fade faster and hurt less? I have done heat and cold and it has not worked, I have also taken Tylenol. These are really bad bruises. this was caused by a "fall" they are very swolen and hot and this happned on saturday, and all I can see is that they are getting worse PS. I am not a teenager!!!

guitarprojoe replied: "Take vitamins and get the proper nutrition in your everyday meals."

"QUEEN BEE" replied: "No, but drink a lot of water so you don't get a blood clot. Also, an Aspirin is a vasodialator and wouldn't hurt."

kat46 replied: "I would just continue with cool compresses"

Lisa E replied: "Don't take asprin (Tylenol is fine). Banana peel is supposed to heal bruises fast. I've never tried it, but heck...it could work just from the alum drawing properties. If these are REALLY bad, you may want to see a doctor. Bruises are bleeding under the skin, and it could be dangerous if it's severe."

sadiaelena replied: "Not sure on how to make it fade however Ibuprofen is great for the inflammation and pain. Tylenol only helps the pain."

Dj NBT replied: "Let me give u a massage"

mara_bear replied: "whats the problem they're only bruises?? I had a bruise on my leg that went about 5 different colours.. and stayed there for agggeesss..... its apart of living!!"

teamo94 replied: "Taking an epsom salt bath is suppose to help heal bruises quicker. Epsom salt is pretty cheap and can be found about anywhere. Just start the bath water and just pour in as much as you want. It help relax you, makes your skin soft and help take away aches and pains. Hope you feel better soon!"

Mikey Poo replied: "How did you get the bruises? If someone is abusing you, please talk to your guidance counselor at school. You sound to me like you need help. Don't let anyone get away with hurting you, if this is the case. Your guidance counselor will report it and whoever is hurting you will be forced to stop. God bless you."

Okay9 replied: "Arnica & mega vitamin c (usually better if taken before you know you are going to be bruising)and there is a product you can buy at the health food store an herbal remedy that many a plastic surgeon recommends post surgical its called: Arnica use both the gel and pill form."

How can I help my knee from hurting? I have iced it which doesn't help and I have taken tylenol. I know I have a severly bruised Knee but I wish it would stop hurting! Hydrocodone helps it not hurt but its already 9:30 pm and its too late for that! hat can I do? Last year I fell on my knee and it twisted(they(dr) said it was sprained) and now this time I fell on it again!

♥ Blondie ♥ replied: "Not much u can do.. if it is hurting.. except take pain pills.. it is gonna hurt for quiet sometime.. u just have to work thru the pain.. and staying off it and not injuring it anymore will help it heal faster.. When it doesn't hurt .. u still need to stay off it.. It will just take time.. just like a broken foot.. that is about 6 weeks.. be patient.. Happy holidays"

lower back problems with tylenol pm? A friend of mine has trouble sleeping, probably because he works late and goes to school late so it takes him awhile to unwind. He told me that one night he took some tylenol pm. I think it was his first time to take it and does not take it on a regular basis. He said when he woke up he could hardly move, because his lower back muscles were all tight at the bottom of his back and there was internal bruising. He thinks it was contributed to the tylenol pm that he took, because he never had the back problem before it, and never had it again. It was only the morning after the night he took it. Has anybody else had this problem? Do you know of anybody else that has had it, Why would it cause these symptoms? Could he have something else inside of his body that could have counteracted with the medicine?

Charles Gaudet replied: "Hello, Great question! The unfortunate nature with drugs is that most (if not all) have side effects. Doing some quick research ... I found some surprising statistics: Every medication, including those that are sold over the counter without a prescription, has an associated side effect. Commonly used drugs have been found to affect every system. Frequent reactions include skin rashes, nausea, headaches, dizziness, lethargy, diarrhea, and gastric bleeding. More severe reactions that can be fatal or severely debilitating include deafness, depression, abnormal heart rhythms, angina, bronchospasm, electrolyte disturbances, immune system dysfunction, serious blood disorders such as aplastic anemia, liver or kidney toxicity, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, or anaphylactic shock. These occur in a statistically significant proportion of the population. Despite what is known about adverse drug effects, Dr. David Kessler, Chief of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, believes that "only 1% of all serious drug reactions are reported." (US News and World Report. January 9, 1995: 49-54.) The widely used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs cause over 3,300 deaths per year and 41,000 hospitalizations. All in all, it could be combination of factors which the lower back problems could be coincidental with the timing of the drugs or it could be directly related to the drugs (side effect / allergy, etc). Either way, you were smart in doing some homework - all pain is a sign that something is wrong ... needless to say, it's worth looking into to find a cause. Good luck! Charlie "

Pat C replied: "How do you know it was "Internal Bruising"? Did he see a doctor or a PA? Was it on both sides in the middle or on just one side the doctor will ask lots more, he should not take it again until he see's the doctor . It sounds like his kidneys need to be checked Tylenol is know to kill kidneys or/and livers with one dose hopefully he was Lucky and needs a doctor now Good Luck"

lorie v replied: "Listen to Charles Gaudet he seems to know what he's talking about and if your in pain try ibuprofen for tonight oh and if you can't sleep just for tonight take a gravol they will mke you sleepy and good luck"
