Salamanca Salamanca is a small and friendly Spanish town, located in the Northwest of Spain, in the Autonomous Region of Castilla y León, 212 kms. from Madrid. The province shares a border with Portugal, nearby are other tourist towns such as Ávila, Burgos, León, Segovia, Guarda and Castelo Branco (Portugal), etc. Close to Salamanca there are lovely places of very diverse colours such as Sierra de Francia, Sierra de Béjar, Arribes del Duero otherwise Campo Charro Area where graze countless Spanish bulls.
Salamanca is a University town. Its University is the oldest of Spain and one of the oldest in Europe, besides Paris, Oxford and Bologna. Salamanca has 160.000 inhabitants. During the academic year this number increases by approximately 40.000. The students from other places in Spain and all around the world makes this town a cosmopolitan place. Salamanca is pleasant and safe and its inhabitants have been used to welcoming foreigners for centuries, this makes it easier for foreign students to immerse themselves into the Spanish way of life. The Spanish language which is spoken by over 250 million people in 23 countries, was first taught in Salamanca mor than 500 years ago. It was a professor of Salamanca, Antonio de Nebrija, who in August 1492 published a few meters from our school the first grammar of a modern language. |
The School The school is situated in the middle of the historical centre, sharing location with the monumental and commercial area, in a pedestrian and university street, far away from urban noises.
We dispose of 9 modern classrooms, a library, computer and Internet facilities, a meeting room and a wide and quiet courtyard where it is possible to sunbathe, or if the weather allows, to have open-air classes, talks or conferences. |
