The ARD-Gala on Ice took place on December 17, 1999 in Frankfurt, and was televised on December 26. The commentator was Daniel Weiss.

In the opening the skaters showed the twentieth century, with melodies of the respective time. Oksana & Artur weren’t in the opening.
First to skate was an acrobatic pair from the Ukraine, Valeria Tischler & Viktor Mytnik, I haven’T heard of them before. Their program had only acrobatic lifts, which were surely great for a circus number, but for me it didn’t have to do anything with figure skating. But of course that’s a matter of taste.
Nathalie Krieg danced to music from the movie "The mask". Her trademarks were like always her spins, which distinguish all Swiss ladies skaters.
Anjelica Krylova & Oleg Ovsiannikov gave their season debut here. Because of Anjelica‘s injury they couldn’t participate at any of the Grand Prix competitions. They skated to a waltz from "La Traviata".
Andrejs Vlascenko presented a "Prince Charming", in a costume with a wide wrap. He showed in an unspectacular performance a triple toeloop and a double axel. He seemed somewhat theatrical, but I’m not a fan of him anyhow.
Mandy Wötzel & Ingo Steuer skated to the music of their Olympic long program, but showed their typical "professional elements" which received a great response by the audience.
Alexei Yagudin showed his new short program to "Nutcracker Suite" with triple loop and triple toeloop, which should be a quadruble in competition, I guess. His program was fast and he showed great step-sequences.

Then came Oksana and Artur. She wore a white dress, and he wore a white shirt and blue pants. They skated to slow classical music, which they did interpret very feelingly. The landing on the throw triple toeloop was a little shaky, but the throw double twist was great. Impressive as always were their lifts, and they showed a few new elements, as for instance a passage where she is lieing on his back and "rolls off" over his head, or a spin where he holds her on his back on one leg and spins (I really don’t know how to describe this). Their performance was beautifully done and it suited them very well.

Next to skate was Katarina Witt, who received a big applause. She always said how much she loves to skate in Germany, but she is really very seldom guest in a German skating show. She skated to Madonna’s "Don’t cry for me, Argentina" and showed two double axels, double loop and double toeloop.
The "German Ice-Theatre" and Natalie Krieg danced to "Hijo de la Luna".
Kati Winkler and Rene Lohse showed their new original dance to Latin American rhythm.
Next came Bessedin & Polishuk, that acrobatic pair, which participates at almost every skating show in German TV. For these two applies the same as for Tischler & Mytnik, but even more blatant. While the other pair was still nice to watch, these two men in Swanlake-costumes were just disgustingly. But of course this is a matter of taste as well.
Peggy Schwartz & Mirko Müller skated to "Mission Impossible". Their skating style is very harmonic and mature. They showed a great throw triple salchow and an impressive one-arm-lift, where she "hovered" in the air just holded by his arm on her hip.
Krylova & Ovsiannikov showed in their second number a blues.
Mandy & Ingo’s second number was "Last dance", the program where she sits on a chair at the beginning. They showed again great lifts and skated very fast.
Alexei Yagudin skated to John Denver’s song "For you", the same program he showed at the Ice-Flip as well.

Oksana and Artur showed at next their "Sad Waltz" program. She wore a lovely blue dress with knee-length skirt, and he wore a black-white shirt and black pants. Their performance was wonderful and mature, and at the end he fell on his knees before her and as always he kissed her hand gallantly.

Last to skate was Katarina Witt. She skated to a slow feelingly ballad by Sarah McLoughlin "Angel".
In the final all skaters showed in groups some elements, for instance the pairs showed together a lift. The final was to the music "Also sprach Zarathustra" which surely was a nice memory for Oksana and Artur.
