BINedit Tutorial / Instructions

Yes, your eyes did not deceive you! Thanks to Phineus, there now is an excellent site with BINedit instructions and a tutorial on the Internet. Take a look at http://karf.net/mtmg/Binedit/.

BINedit V0.9 Release 20 (July 7, 1998)

Here is the latest release of my BIN file editor. It is a beta release! Use it at your own risk! Some of the new features:

  • Hopefully better support for saving Hellbender BINs
  • separate EXEs for SGI and MS OpenGL (see below)

BINedit uses the OpenGL 3d-graphics library. This library DLLs are available in two different implementations. The SGI (Silicon Graphics Inc.) implementation is the faster, bigger, and less compatible version of the two. The Microsoft implementation is considerably smaller, slightly slower, and seems to work on all PCs. I suggest you try the faster SGI version first. If it doesn't work on your machine, come back for the Microsoft OpenGL DLLs.

PODMate V2.02

[fixed: PODMate will not complain when the MTM path was not found in the registry, but will use the current path instead]

One track per POD is not very much if you cannot install more than 15 PODs in MTM. With the help of PODMate V2.02 you can merge POD files and put all your favorite tracks in just one POD file. PODMate even helps you to save valuable harddisk space. With PODMate 2.02 you can now merge multiple POD files in one step.

BIN Animator V1.0

To use BIN animations, you must create a "animation control BIN", telling MTM the filenames of the animation frames, the number of frames and the speed of the animation. BIN Animator V1.0 (ca. 95k) is a simple program for just that purpose.

TrackMate V1.0b3

Do you need to copy, mirror or rotate altitude and texture data in a track? If so, you should take a look at my program TrackMate (V1.0b3).

TrackView V1.1b1

TrackViewV1.1b1 shows a pseudo-3d view of tracks in POD or SIT files similar to the nice pictures in the zoom windows of Snowy Canyon and A Crazier Eight.
