Chemical Formulas - PPCHTeX-Database

You want to write some structural formulas with PPCHTeX? You have difficulties to find out the correct syntax? There are several ways to solve this problem:

The first way is to read the manual (in english, dutch and german). You should do that in every case. Then you can try... Perhaps you'll succeed with your first typestrokes. But I presume, that you'll make some mistakes in your PPCHTeX-code, especially, when (“your formulas are a little complex“ AND “you are not very familiar with the PPCHTeX-syntax“).

The second way is (after reading the manual) to look up your substance in this database. The intention is, that you will find the code here. Perhaps you'll tune it a little and make it a bit smoother, but a great deal of the work is already done.

But at this moment, this database is just the begin. It contains only a handful of examples, and not the more complex ones. It should serve as a spring of ideas, but it also needs the contributions of you.

The pictures of the formulas are GIFs or PNGs of the DVI- or PS- outputs of ppchtex after a latex-run, made by screen capturing (I captured Ghostscript(W32)- and Windvi-screens: with Ghostscript it looks nicer). In most cases are different formulas of the same substance possible - isomers, but also –very simple- different ways of representing the structure (e.g. glucose with front-view, as chair, as chain, upside-down and so on). In this case the pictures of the different formulas are all together on one HTML-page (e.g. all glucoses on one page) with the PPCHTex-code opposite to them (look for example at desoxyribose).

If you want to contribute, take a look at the Howto-page!

Feel free to discuss this topic! Further ideas welcome!
