Introduction/Basic stuff =============================================================================== Hello out there. This is a walkthrough for all the fans of the german fangame "The Legend of Zelda - The Opal of Shiekah" I hope since im not going to translate the game you'll be able to enjoy it as much as possible with this document. Before I'll start describing what to do, here's a list of the basic controls: Arrow keys Hero movements ESC Live-Menu / Saving on the world map Shift, 1, 2, 3, 4 Using schield ("Schild") Jumping ("Springen") Sword ("Schwert") Item 1 ("Inventargegenstand 1") Item 2 ("Inventargegenstand 2") Space Action button for various things Windows button Pause the game (alternate for ALT+TAB) F4 Switching between Windowed- and Fullscreen mode F5 Change resolution F12 Quit game =============================================================================== 3. Items =============================================================================== As with every Zelda game, you slowly build an arsenal of various weapons and items as you complete quests and clear dungeons. Here is a list of which items you can find in the DEMO: DWARVES BLADE: A gift from the forges in the end of the "supplier quests" This is the Sword you get first. It cuts enemys and switches. While playing this item will get upgrades and new skills (not within the Demo) HYRULE SHIELD: You'll get this item close to the beginning of the game. When holding the shield button you can block the enemy's attacks and shots, but you cant block every kind of attack! SHIEKAH HARP: This is an old relic given by the elder of the Shiakahs. With it you can play songs you learn later. Every one of them has a different effect on things or people. BOOMERANG: This is the first dungeon treasure. You can damage enemies or turning switches by throwing it at them. You can also aim for lower or higher spots you wouldn't reach with the sword. =============================================================================== 4. General tips/tricks =============================================================================== Here are some general strategies you should think of while you play the game: - Take your time while fighting against enemies. Every enemy has it's weak point. You can figure them out by being a little patient - Explore the World map. You may find places which are hidden and contain Heart Pieces or Skull Tokens! - Take a close look on your surroundings. Sometimes you can fall through a platform and access a secret area or you have to use an item to do so. =============================================================================== 5. Enemies =============================================================================== Here's a list of the enemies you'll be facing in the demo: CHU CHU: Location: Almost everywhere Description: Chu Chus do walk and jump towards you when you come close enough. They appear in different colors and forms. How to Defeat: For the normal sized Chu Chus just stay still and hit them with your sword. Just go towards them when you see through their movements. If you encounter the mini-ChuChu dont try to block them or run towards them, because they're fast! BUBBLE: Location: Katuria Castle, Rock Temple Cave Description: A skull that is flying in the air. Its attack is simple running into Link. How to Defeat: This enemy will ignore you until you do damage to it. When you do use your shield to keep the distance and do a sword slash when it is far enough from you. DEKU BABA: Location: Swamp, Swamp Cavern, Katuria Fields Description: This well known enemy comes up from the ground and attacks you if you come too close. How to Defeat: You may use the boomerang to defeat the Deku Baba, or you can walk within its attack range and hit it with the sword DEKU SCRUB: Location: Temple Mountains, Manjo Fields, Katuria Fields, Swamp, Swamp Cavern, Rock Temple Cave, Temple of Wisdom Cave, Magical Woods Description: Deku Scrubs are cowards. They come up from underground and spit deku nuts at you. If you get too close, they'll dive. How to Defeat: Just hold your shield and let him shoot at you. Your shield will reflect the deku nut and defeat the Deku Scrub. GUAY(Crow): Location: Manjo Fields, Katuria Fields, Graveyard Description: These enemies are waiting for you to enter their view range, before the'll start chasing you How to Defeat: Don't try to block them, since they're fast. Hit them as soon as they start moving. KEESE(Bats): Location: Swamp, Swamp Cavern, Rock Temple Cave, Temple of Wisdom Cave Description: These enemies are just the same as Guays. How to Defeat: Don't try to block them, since they're fast. Hit them as soon as they start moving. SKULLTULA: Location: Magical Woods Description: Skulltulas will come from above and block your path. How to Defeat: Wait about 2-3 seconds and they will turn around revealing their weekness, which is their back. Strike their back with your sword. STALFOS: Location: Katuria Castle Description: This enemy can block your attacks and run around trying to hit you with their blades. How to Defeat: You cant escape from these enemies, so you have to stand them. Use your shield to block their attacks and wait until they attack. You'll get a moment to hit them. If they're holding the shield up you have to duck and attack. Otherwise, if they're blocking your lower attacks hit them while standing. TEKTITE: Location: Swamp Cavern Description: Those spiders will jump towards you as soon as they see you. How to Defeat: You need good timing if you try to jump over them. It's the safest way if you just stand still and attack them with your sword WOLFOS: Location: Manjo Fields Description: Wolfos can be very annoying since they're pretty tough. When they spot you, they will run towards you and attack How to Defeat: Don't leave an openning. Wait until they are close enough and hit the sword button as fast as possible. If you fail on keeping a distance between you and the Wolfo, just jump away =============================================================================== 6. Walkthrough =============================================================================== Let's start with the basic information about this document, the walkthrough. --------------------------------------------------------------- A) A whole new world --------------------------------------------------------------- At first you'll find yourself without any equipment in a snowy mountain. Walk to the right and try to avoid the enemies. When you enter the mountains cave ignore the deku scrub next to the big door and enter the door in the right corner. You'll get the shield there. Go back and defeat the Deku Scrub to enter the inner cave. Once through you'll reach the Shiekah Temple. Go into the main hall and meet the Shiekah Elder, who will give you the Shiekah Harp. Leave the main hall and use the Triforce-Plattform in the room before (to use it press the arrow keys up > goes as well for entering rooms or passages). You'll be able to save and leave the temple. --------------------------------------------------------------- B) Manjo and the "quest" for a sword --------------------------------------------------------------- Before you can start collecting the Seals from the dungeons you have to equip yourself with a sword. Enter the village near the cave you came from. Talk with Halbert in front of the four buildings at the end of the village. You'll obtain a package. Deliver it to the dwarves on the southern-east fields. The Dwarves are so glad about their delivered tools, that they present you with a blade. Now you can pass the guards on the Manjo Fields and leave the Manjo region. --------------------------------------------------------------- C) Entering the swamp ("Sumpf") --------------------------------------------------------------- Your destination is the swamp. Which is the location of the first dungeon. The swamp is located in the west region of Katur. After you go through the Cave you'll encounter a Ghost which blocks your path. The only way to enter the dungeon is to calm the ghost. --------------------------------------------------------------- D) Picking up Mushrooms --------------------------------------------------------------- Use the given shortcut offer to leave the cave and return to the world map. Enter the Graveyard next to the swamp. Meet Mellow the witch who wants you to pick up some mushrooms for her. The reward will be a song which is used to calm confused spirits. Leave the Graveyard and enter the Magical Woods to the right. Go through this area and defeat all enemies as well as destroying all objects to collect 5 Mushrooms. After you got them go back to the witch and learn the song. Now you can help the Ghost and enter the first dungeon! --------------------------------------------------------------- E) Dungeon #1: Swamp Cavern ("Sumpfgrotte") --------------------------------------------------------------- At first unlock the shortcut by pressing up on the Triforce-Plattform. Save your progress and enter the right room. Countinue going right into the next room. View a warning sequence about the toxic stream which is coming up from the floor and enter the door next to it. You'll find a switch which opens the other door in the room with the toxic gas. Enter this room to obtain a small key. Go back into the first hall, where the big door is located and open the door to its right. Here you'll find the map and a switch. Get the map and press the switch to cut the stream of toxic gas. Go through the room where you just turned of the gas as well as the following big room and two long rooms. Here you have to climb on the plants to reach the switch that will drop down a ladder. Go back and climb up the ladder to get a small key. Use it to open the door in the same room. Before doing anything funny save your progress. Jump down and try to catch the fairy a bit to the left. ---------- Miniboss: Moboso ---------- When you fall down you'll encounter a big moth (not a butterfly -.-). It's attacks are a shot and streams of gas. Avoid the shots and wait for it to come low enough to hit it. When Moboso leaves the screen run into the middle of the room and wait for the upcoming streams to pause. Run to the left or right wall and wait until a second break to return back into the middle. You may need 1-2 trys to improve your timing. When you win the battle you'll get the boomerang. Use the elevator to leave the room through the door you came from. Go back through the long rooms into the big one with a box. Move the box to the right door, so that you can reach the upper levels there. Go up and hit the switch with your boomerang. It will open the door in this room, but only for a few seconds. Hurry to the door and go through it. In the next rooms you just have to climb up all the ladders. Be careful not to touch the spike cubes. You'll reach a big room with another box. Move the box left to get on the upper plattform. Climb up the plants and ladders and enter the door. Throw your boomerang towards the switch and leave the room. Now the way is open to the upper floor. At first you should activate the Triforce-Plattform. With both activated you can use a shortcut from outside to each the floor inside. Enter the room on the left and climb up the plants. Go through the door in the upper left corner. In this room there's a switch which unlocks the door in the upper right corner of the previous room. Enter it and unlock the lower left door. And finally unlock the lower right door there. In the last room you'll get a small key. Go back to the room, where you found the second Triforce-Plattform and open the locked door. Behind it you'll find a switch that cuts another stream of gas. Leave the small room and the Triforce-Plattform-Room on the left. Go through the room with four doors and enter the room on the left, where you'll find a dead end. Use your boomerang to hit the switch above. A ladder will fall down and you can climb up. In the next room take the Master Key and jump down (it's a shortcut to the main hall). You can now enter the boss room ---------- Boss: Ghoma ---------- Here you may have to spend a bit more time. Ghoma will throw eggs after you, simply jump over them. When Ghoma hangs down and its eye changed its color throw your boomerang at it to stun Ghoma. While stunned run towards it and hit the eye with your sword. Be careful not getting cocky. After a few hits Ghoma will stand up again and you may get hurt if you're too close. After a few hits Ghoma will be defeated and you'll get a Heart Container. You'll be warped into the seal chamber. Get it and leave that place. After a small shortcut sequence leave the swamp and head for Katuria to the north. --------------------------------------------------------------- F) Getting an access pass from Katuria Castle ("Schloss Katuria) --------------------------------------------------------------- When you reach Katuria go right, straight to the castle. Before you can enter it you'll have to beat a bunch of enemies. Make sure you save your progress before going ahead, because you'll get attacked by Stalfoses on your way through the garden. When you enter the throne room talk with the right guard, he'll give you an access pass for the path to the second dungeon. After you got it dont forget to take the Skull-Token from the kitchen with you. Leave castle, fight your way back and leave Katuria. Now you can go through all the way to the second dungeon, the Ice Palace. Head for the east region and enter the cave between Koikano and Manjo. Use your boomerang to open the passage in the cave. After you got through there'll be the guard you need to show the pass to. --- the demo ends here --- =============================================================================== 7.
