Built your individual and extra long MIDI CABLE alias MULTIMEDIA CABLE

The original multimediacable look like this:

If your soundmodule is just 2 metres away from your computer, I recommend to buy the original cable. But if you want to spend some time to have an individual and LONG midicable, solder your own! Here is what you need:

material:

1 a magnetic isolated cable which could be about 7-8 metres,
1 CNY 17 I which is an optocopler
1 74 ALS 00 or 74 LS 00 (I got ALS) which is an ic with 4 NAND-gates.
1 1500 Ohm = 1k5 resistor
3 220 Ohm resistor
2 100pF capacitor
1 100nF capacitor
1 1N4148 diode
2 5-pin DIN jack (old keyboards)
1 15-pin Sub D male jack (Joystick)
1 plate layer to solder the circuit on

tools:

+ solder iron
+ tin solder
+ hand drill
+ heat shrink tubing (and heat gun) or insulating tape
+ knife

Before doing the isolation the multimediacable looks like this (this is NOT the final stadium!):

here the circuit:

...good luck...
