On Whiteness: an electronic booklet
This booklet focuses on general aspects and basic concepts of whiteness. Written using Microsoft Windows Help (update to last version may be needed, visit Microsoft Homepage) it gives a quick overview of important basic points concerning the phenomena of whiteness. Versions in German and Spanish are in preparation.

Color Slide Rule: software for color conversions
This small software (freeware) allows color data transformation between any (X,Y,Z), (Y,x,y), (L*,a*,b*), Hunter Lab, RGB, (Rx,Ry,Rz), (Y,Wd,Pe) and (Y,Wcie, Tcie) and vice versa; calculations to many one- and two-parameter whiteness formulas are also included.

Reviewing the Concept of Paper Brightness

ABSTRACT: Paper brightness is a number used in the paper manufacturing for  characterizing the aspect of the paper. Originally as a qualifier for the bleaching extent of pulp cooking, it evolved over time to become a synonym of white aspect or shortly of whiteness. Paper brightness is though no color-related parameter and it is by no means connected with appearance.

ABSTRACT: The literature contains hundreds of whiteness formulas that have been used under different conditions. The present report tries to rationalize many of the popular formulas and examine their origin and application field; special emphasis is paid to the modern linear formulas defining Ganz and CIE whiteness scales.
