The Newbie Guide to Veteran Status!

Welcome to the Guide to Veteran Status!

By now you should be familiar with the NGTG, and be able to play accordingly. However, the NGTG only provides information on how to act inside the game. In order to be accepted by the Gloom Community as one of their own, a so-called veteran, you need to know a few things. In this guide I will attempt to explain to you the behavior of the average Gloom veteran. Some of those things might come as a surprise to you, but if you’ve been reading the NGTG, it should be a little familiar as well.

Before reading this guide, it is important to know who are the real Gloom Veterans. If you do not know who they are, then you cannot emulate them. Ever since the release of the mod, there has been a group of players that were better than the rest. Not only were they superior in their playing style, but also they were better human beings. Over time more players became part of this group, while some were excluded. If you ever meet a person who claims that they do not like veterans, they are most likely to be one of the few who were once part of the group, but were excluded. The people that make up the real veteran group are highly skilled players, friendly and smart persons, and most definitely they are the elite.

Veterans are everywhere around you, they might be your teammates, or your enemies, but they are always there; they are the ones that dictate the flow of the game; they are the ones that decide which side should win; they are the turning point in the game; they are the ones that break through the enemy defense. You can be a part of them, too. If you have read the NGTG, it should not be hard to get you polished up to be a veteran, since the basis is already there and does not need to be learned.

If you have not read the NGTG, then I advise you to read it in addition to this guide, as the NGTVS only covers the out of game aspect of being a veteran.

You are now ready to start reading the first part of the guide to becoming a veteran. Start here, and follow the “next” links until you reach the end of the guide.
